Painted Poppies for all Occasions

The beautiful flowers in the Painted Poppies stamp set lend themselves to all kinds of artistic expression. Yesterday I shared a quick and easy card made with this stamp set; you can see that card here. And I’m calling today’s card Painted Poppies for all occasions and you’ll see why in just a bit

Today I want to share a card using Painted Poppies colored with the Stampin’ Blends markers for a totally different look. Take a look:

a card designed by Nancy Gleason of My StampinSpace using the Painted Poppies and Peaceful Moments stamp sets and the Peaceful Poppies DSP

See how they are totally different?

The coordinating dies from the Painted Labels dies (bundle and save 10% and earn a FREE SaleABration item!) make quick work out of cropping out the shapes. But when you combine them with the sentiments from the companion Peaceful Moments stamp set, you can create a card for any occasion.

Peaceful Moments stamp set #151595

Just like the card I featured yesterday, you can simply swap out the sentiment to make a card for any occasion. The Peaceful Moments stamp set is perfect for so many different occasions it just a ‘must have’ stamp set.

Card Details

On this card I also used the coordinating Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper against a Pool Party cardstock layer. The flowers are colored with Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends and the leaves with Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The “With Deepest Sympathy” sentiment was stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink, then fussy cut with paper snips.

I love the Peaceful Poppies Suite; there are 2 companion bundles. The Painted Poppies Bundle and the Peaceful Moments bundle. Both bundles have stamp set and dies and they both coordinate so well together. Add the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series paper, and matching embellishments and you’ve got the makings for so many different cards, gifts and home decor items. You can order the whole Peaceful Poppies product suite as a bundle with just 1 order number AND you can earn FREE Sale-A-Bration items when you do!

Sale-A-Bration

Sale-A-Bration is in full swing! With every $50 of product that you order, you earn 1 FREE SAB item. There is no limit on the amount of items you can earn. When you host, or place a qualifying online order of $150 or more (before tax & shipping) you earn Host Rewards too! A $300 workshop or online order gets a FREE exclusive Little Ladybug stamp set too! Consider adding a prepaid Paper Pumpkin subscription to your order to increase your SAB earnings!

The best deal, though is the $99 Starter Kit. You choose $125 worth of products, score Free Shipping and Biz Supplies, and during SAB you’ll also get an exclusive mini paper cutter, a 6×6 DSP stack, and an additional stamp set of your choice (any value). You can order the $99 Starter Kit here.

Please leave me a comment and let me know which card you like better: yesterdays card that you can see here, or today’s card Painted Poppies for all occasions.

It only took me 10 minutes

I held my monthly team meeting yesterday and about 1/2 hour before the meeting began, I decided I wanted to provide a quick make & take card for everyone to make using the Peaceful Poppies Suite from the 2020 Mini Catalog. I sat down and made this card and it only took me 10 minutes to make from start to finish!

This is truly the kind of card that you can whip up just 1 or 2, or mass produce a large quantity. Furthermore, you can easily swap out the sentiment for any occasion; birthday, get well, thank you, thinking of you, etc. Heck, you could even make the card and not add a sentiment panel until you need a card to send and then just stamp a sentiment.

You could always stamp the inside too, as I did here:

Card Recipe

Want to know how to make this card? Of course you do! So I will tell you. This card features products from the new Peaceful Poppies product suite (pages 24-27 of the 2020 Mini Catalog). I started with a piece Whisper White Cardstock cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored and folded in half for the card base.

I used scraps of Whisper White to stamp the large poppy, the smaller poppy and 4 leaves from the Painted Poppies stamp set using Tuxedo Black Momento ink. I stamped the watercolor image over the flowers using Poppy Parade ink to color in the flowers.

Then I cropped the flowers and leaves out using the coordinating Painted Labels dies. The swirly circle was cut from Basic Black cardstock. The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock using the companion stamp set Peaceful Moments. A 1″ x 5″ strip of B&W DSP adds some visual interest and a few Rhinestone Jewels add some bling.

And did I mention that it only took me 10 minutes to make this card from start to finish! Pretty sweet, right? With all the layers and elements, it looks like this card would have taken a pretty long to create, but the coordinating stamps and dies make it so easy. When you combine the use of black & white with just 1 color it makes a pretty dramatic statement.

You can purchase all the supplies to make this card right here from my online store, or just click the product name above. And when you purchase the stamp set and dies as a bundle you save 10%. Both the Painted Poppies Bundle and the Peaceful Moments bundle are $52 which qualify for a FREE Sale-A-Bration item! Buy both bundles and get 2 FREE Sale-A-Bration items.

For the Get Well card above, I used the sentiment from the Sending You Thoughts stamp set which is a FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp set.

So which card do you like better? The Happy Birthday card on the left or the “If Loving Thoughts could heal…” card on the right? Please leave me a comment and let me know. (Shh, don’t tell anyone but the card on the right is slightly different. Can you tell that the smaller flower on top is popped up on stampin’ dimensionals? At my team meeting, one of my members asked where the dimensionals were because I always add them. She lifted up the little flowers and the leaves, and when I got home, I made 2 get well cards for the 2 gals who weren’t there because they were sick, and I popped them up on dimensionals too! Thanks Brienne!)

Let It Shine!

Metallic accents add so much class and bling to any project – I say “Let it Shine!” One of favorites from the new 2019 Stampin’ UP! catalog is the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper. What makes it special is the gold foil accents in the paper. And nothing says Christmas to me like plaid – win/win! Let’s take a look”

Between the plaid paper and the plaid Christmas Tree stamp from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set, I’m in Christmas plaid Heaven! And the metallic gold foil accents of the DSP repeat the gold in the Shaded Spruce/Gold Striped Ribbon. The main focal point is a Christmas tree cropped from a sheet of gold foil and the sentiment is embossed with Gold Embossing powder.

The Paper Players Challenge

I’m not the only one who is liking all these metallic accents – the Paper Players like them too as is evident by this weeks challenge which is all about Marvelous Metallics.

You call see all the submissions for the Paper Players Challenge here.

I love that I could use 3 different metallics (Gold Foil, gold foil accents in the DSP and gold embossing powder) on 1 project and have perfect coordination! The product coordination is what hooked me on Stampin’ Up! many years ago and I’m still hooked! The stamps and punches are perfectly coordinated to crop out those trees. The plaids coordinate and so do the colors.

My trusty paper snips made easy work of cropping out Christmas Cheer from the sentiment after heat embossing it with gold embossing powder.

Meet Lenny!

My husband and I just returned from a vacation in Maine. It was absolutely wonderful! Maine was everything I had hoped for and more! I’ve never been there but I’m sure I will go back. It was so beautiful. And I ate so much good food – yes I had my first lobster roll, delicious! And blueberry pie and blueberry pancakes. I even brought home wild Maine blueberries and made a pie. I shared my pie (and the recipes for both my homemade pie crust and my blueberry pie filling) on my Facebook page.

And wildlife – we went on a Whale Watching Tour! Such magnificent creatures and it’s hard to fathom the sheer size of those whales! The famous Maine wildlife that we didn’t see were moose. But I did meet Lenny! And I want to introduce him to you now too!

Lenny the Chocolate Moose

Lenny is a 1700 lb. Chocolate Moose! Yes, he is solid milk chocolate! Now that’s my kind of wild life! But I wasn’t allowed to take a nibble of him ūüôĀ Isn’t he adorable?

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge

Lenny was the inspiration for my card. When I saw the sketch from the folks at Freshly Made Sketches, I just knew that sketch was made for the Moose from the new Merry Moose stamp set.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I also broke out my new Birch Background stamp and just used a neutral combination of Early Espresso and Crumb Cake for my layers and just a pop of red for the scarf. An easy card to make and the sketch was perfect. But after sleeping on it, I woke up with an idea to step up the card a bit so here is my second card:

Merry Moose for FMS400

For this card I used the Woodlands Embossing Folder for the background instead of the Birch Background stamp and I made the image panel larger. I stamped a few trees in Mossy Meadow ink and this time I stamped the moose and colored him using the Stampin’ Blends markers and cropped him out with the coordinating Moose Punch. The scarf was stamped in Real Red and fussy cut with my paper snips.

So which one do you like better? The simple card or the stepped up version? Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

If you like the Merry Moose stamp set and Moose punch, you’ll be able to purchase them as a bundle when the Holiday Catalog goes live on Sept. 5th!

  • Ride With Me Bundle (this makes an adorable 3-D pick up truck and it coordinates with the mini Stampin’ UP! shipping boxes found on page 172)

My top 3 Paper Choices are:

  • Perennial Essence DSP– the designs and colors in this hand painted paper look like a Monet painting! I don’t want to use it, I just want to frame this paper – it’s that pretty! See it on pages 106-108.

Changes are coming….

Chlnges are coming! Keeping up with design and manufacturing trends is something Stampin’ Up! has always done. This is what keeps them on the leading edge of style and design trends. An example of this is the Color Palette, specifically the InColors. In Colors are on trend colors introduced for a 2 year period. With each Annual Catalog (the beginning of June) 5 new colors are introduced, aptly named for 2 year period in which they will be available. And 5 colors are retired. As we prepare to say goodbye to the 2017-2019 InColors, please note all items in these colors will retire and are now only available while supplies last. Shop the retiring 2017-2019 In Colors here.

More changes to come have been announced regarding some of our tools.

The Stampin’ Trimmer is being retired when the current catalog ends. I have always felt that is one of the best, user-friendly trimmers on the market. You can order a Stampin’ Trimmer here before they retire, and don’t forget to order extra Trimmer blades too. There is a current quantity limit of THREE on blade packages (set of two per package).  On April 15, the limit will be increased to SIX (set of two per package).
A replacement trimmer or paper cutter will be released in the future (date to be determined).

Also being retired is the Big Shot die cutting & embossing machine, and all of it’s accessories. You can purchase a Die Cutting & Embossing Machine here now. A new die cutting and embossing machine will be introduced in the future (date to be determined) – I can’t wait to see what’s coming!

NEW DIES and EMBOSSING FOLDERS: We will still offer dies and embossing folders, but you’ll see some improvements to these items in the new 2019 Annual Catalog too. You can read all about the new dies and embossing folders here.

Several stamp sets will be retired as well to make room for new stamp sets. The Retired List will be posted next week. I will be heading to Atlantic City, NJ for the OnStage convention today and will be getting my 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. Stay tuned to my Facebook page for sneak posts and posts from OnStage. I will also have giveaways for many of my posts so make sure you comment on my posts as well.

Talk to you soon! I’m sure there will be more changes coming that I’ll be telling you about!

Sale-A-Bration Sympathy

I sat down to make a Sympathy card last night expecting to use the Level 2 Sale-A-Bration item “Lasting Lily” because, well, it has a beautiful lily image and several sentiments that are perfect for this occasion.¬† However, I wound up using the sentiments but taking a totally different direction for the card.¬† I do that sometimes (after all it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind, isnt’ it?)¬† Let’s take a look:¬† Botanical Butterfly meets Lasting LilyThe beautiful “Botanical Butterfly” DSP is a Level 1 Sale-A-Bration item (meaning you earn it for FREE with a qualifying $50 order).¬† That paper is just so gorgeous!¬† I find myself looking at it but not wanting to cut it up and use it.¬† Does anyone else have that problem?¬† The prettier the paper, the harder it is to cut it up.¬†¬† But in my head I know that it looks a lot better in a card that is going to brighten someone’s day when they open their mailbox than sitting on my¬† shelf.¬†#loveitchopit #makeacardsendacard

This card is headed for someone special, someone who I refer to as my Stampin’ UP! mom (she introduced me to Stampin’ UP!¬† many years ago and set my life on a totally different trajectory!¬† Boy, I’m so glad she did! – But that’s a story for another time).¬† Her Mom passed away over the weekend.¬† I definitely needed to chop up my gorgeous DSP¬† to make a sympathy card for her!

This card is so beautiful because the DSP does all the heavy lifting!  All I had to do was to stamp the sentiment, crop it with an oval framelit, layer it with a stitched oval, place it over a belly band that picks up the tiny black layer, and I was done!  I did use a piece of copier paper on the inside and stamped a sentiment on that.  TIP:  Whenever I use a colored card base, I always add a plain white copier paper insert Рit makes it easier to read & write on white than on color.

I was able to earn both the Botanical Butterfly DSP and the Lasting Lily stamp set at the same time.¬† I try to make it a habit to never place an order less than $150.¬† Why?¬† First of all, shipping is a minimum of $6.95 up to an order of $69.95 (it becomes 10% of the order after that), AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, at $150 you earn Host Rewards EVEN IF THE ENTIRE ORDER IS YOURS (you don’t have to host a party or a workshop to earn those host rewards!)¬† So if I placed a $150 order, I’d earn 10% in Host Rewards.¬† If I placed 3 – $50 orders, I’d pay more in shipping and I wouldn’t earn any host rewards.

So, during Sale-A-Bration, you definitely want to place orders in $50 increments so you can earn FREE Sale-A-Bration items.¬† But if you can, I suggest you place your order for a minimum of $150 to earn those host rewards too.¬† (I often use those host rewards to stock up on adhesive or envelopes, and occasionally to indulge in¬† a stamp set I might not otherwise order).¬† If you really want to maximize your savings, place a $250 order.¬† These BIG SPENDERS either order all for themselves, or gather a few orders from friends and family.¬† At $250 you earn a $25 Host Reward Bonus so you’ll get $25 (10% of $250) and $25 for a total of $50 in Free Products, AND 5 -Level 1 Sale-A-Bration rewards!!

Now is also a good time to order a 12 month PrePaid Paper Pumpkin Subscription ($209) because you’ll earn Free Sale-A-Bration items and you’ll get closer to that $250 Big Spender level.

To learn more about Sale-A-Bration, read my blog post here.  Then head over to my online store, and place your order to earn your FREE Sale-A-Bration items.

JANUARY HOST CODE & FREE GIFT WITH ORDER

If you place an order with me during January that is $75 or more (before tax & shipping) and your order is less than $150, please using HOST CODE B3KMJJ23.¬† If your order is $150 or more, please do not use this Host Code but rather take the Host Rewards for yourself.¬† If you do place an OnlineOrder of $75 -$149.99 AND use the host code, OR place an order of $150 or more , I will send you the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots as my way of saying “thank you” for shopping with me.

Buffalo Check

I may be a little bit late to the Buffalo Check party, but I’ll be making up for lost time for sure!¬† As soon as I saw the Buffalo Check background stamp in the 2018 Holiday Catalog, I knew I had to have it!¬† But since I was pacing my budget with the trip to Orlando, FL for OnStage, I didn’t get it right away. ¬†¬† My order arrived a few days before Thanksgiving but today was the first day I could actually ink that stamp up and use it.¬† This is the first card I made with it:¬†¬† Buffalo Check Christmas Plaid

I used Black Momento ink on Whisper White cardstock to stamp the Buffalo Check image.¬†¬†¬† If you subscribe to my mailing list, you’ll be able to download my free report ““The 8 Essential Tools Every Paper Crafter MUST have to be Successful” .¬† #2 is a clear flexible ruler.¬† I used this ruler and my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write marker to draw lines between the checks to create more of a ‘plaid’ than Buffalo Check.¬† I really love the way it turned out.

I used the Country Home stamp set to stamp the milk can and colored it using the Basic Gray Stampin’ Blends markers.¬† I added hi-lights with the Stampin’ Blends Color Lifter.¬† (You can get this FREE from me; see below.) ¬†¬† Then I cropped some pine needles from Old Olive cardstock, a berry spring in gold foil sheets, and leaves in Vellum.¬† I stamped the candy canes in Cherry Cobbler ink and fussy cut them out. I stamped the sentiment from the Winter Woods stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White and fussy cut that out as well.

Every where I look, I see Buffalo Check patterns, from clothing to housewares, to Christmas decor.¬† It’s so on trend.¬† I love that Stampin’ Up! offers us products that are so trendy.¬† I stamped several pieces of cardstock, in different colors, so I plan on making lots of cards with Buffalo Check backgrounds!¬† Follow my Facebook page to see them all.

Sunday Stamps Challenge

I think challenges are a great way to stretch your creativity, and so I am endeavoring to play along with 2 challenges each week.¬† This week, I chose to play along with The Sunday Stamps challenge.¬† The sketch is a great layout which allowed me to showcase our beautiful DSP and the stunning Hibiscus flower from “Humming Along” the soon to be released stamp set from Stampin’ Up!¬† (Yes, my last blog post featured this flower as well and you can see that here).¬† Here is the sketch that inspired today’s project:

Sunday Stamps Challenge 192And here is my take on it:

The gorgeous gingham DSP is a new paper called Gingham Gala and it will be available in Jan 2019 in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog, along with the “Humming Along” stamp set.¬† I colored in the Hibiscus with our Stampin’ Blends markers in Daffodil Delight.¬†¬†¬†¬† I love how the darling gingham just pops against a the tiniest bit of Basic¬† Black.¬† And because no envelope should be left naked…

Humming Along Yellow Hibiscus

The gingham paper has a larger check on one side, and a smaller check on the other.¬† I used the larger check to dress up the envelope flap so it coordinates perfectly but isn’t an exact match.

I hope you like my project today.¬† I encourage you to play with the Stampin’ Blends markers.¬† It is so easy to create a perfectly shaded and hi-lighted image with our Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.¬† Here’s an up-close of the flower colored with the Stampin’ Blends so you can see the shaded and hi-lighted areas.

Humming Along

One of the stamp sets I got during Prize Patrol at OnStage last week is a line art stamp set called “Humming Along”.¬† Not only does the line art give me the chance to color with my watercolor pencils or Stampin’ Blends, but the fonts in the stamp set are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!¬† Let’s take a look at the stamp set:

Humming Along

That gorgeous Hibiscus flower!¬† Right?¬† Now look what happens when you add some color with our Stampin’ Blends:Humming Along

So simple yet so striking!

How I did it:

I used Old Olive cardstock for the card base, and layered my Whisper White panels with Basic Black.¬† I used Tuxedo Black Momento Black ink and shaded with Cherry Cobbler (light & dark), Old Olive (light & dark) and Crushed Curry (light & dark) Stampin’ Blends markers.

I saw these flowers all over Florida and even snapped a few pictures of these red beauties: Hibiscus in Orlando FL

Stampin’ Blends

If you haven’t tried the Stampin’ Blends yet, grab yourself a few.¬† I started with a few basic color combinations (I choose green, yellow, red/pink to make flowers and added to my color collection from there.¬† Of course, I got the Color Lifter as well so I could remove my mistakes and add hi-lights.¬† Order Stampin’ Blends here.

I find coloring with the blends to be therapeutic; it’s so calming and relaxing and just plain fun.¬† Just start coloring and soon you’ll be just humming along, and then; the end result?¬† Something to be so proud of!¬† Your friends and family will oooh and aaaah over your creations for sure!

I’ve been Making Christmas Bright

Hi Stampers,¬† I love getting a jump start on making Christmas Cards and this past week I’ve been busy making Christmas Bright, thanks to the new Making Christmas Bright stamp set and coordinating Christmas Bulb Builder Punch (Bundle and Save 10%)

I love, too, when I get more mileage out of a Christmas stamp set by using it year round, and this bundle does just that.¬† Now that’s what I call Making Christmas Bright!

Making Christmas Bright

I love the cheerful, rainbow of colors and the festive combination of Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick.¬† The pop of Silver Metallic gives just the right amount of bling!¬† A bit of Wink of Stella gives the light bulbs some added shine.¬† Making Christmas Bright up close light bulbsHere’s a look at the Making Christmas Bright Bundle:
Making Christmas Bright Bundle

One thing that made working with the tiny light bulb pieces a piece of cake is the new Take Your Pick tool.¬† After punching out multiple light bulbs from colored cardstock and light bulb bases from Silver Metallic Foil, this tool allowed me to pick up the pieces with ease and place them just where I need them to be.¬† I don’t think I would want to put these light bulbs together without it!¬† Make sure you grab a Take Your Pick Tool when you order this bundle!

The Stamparatus also made easy work of stamping the sentiment.  This is 2 stamps and getting them lined up within the circle (which I cropped out before stamping) is so easy with the stamparatus.  I love this more and more every time I use it!

I know that you want to recreate this card for yourself, and you can!  My supply list is below so that you can get the supplies you need to make this card for yourself.

Now I told you that the Making Christmas Bright stamp set can also be used year round.¬† I’ll be sharing two projects I made with this stamp set that aren’t Christmas in an upcoming blog post.¬† My mailing list subscribers will actually get to see them first!¬† If you aren’t on my mailing list, you can subscribe here.
I hope my project will be Making Christmas Bright for you too!
If you have any questions for me, leave them in the comments and I’ll be sure to get back to you!¬† I may even answer your question in an upcoming newsletter edition.
