Sale-A-Bration Sympathy

I sat down to make a Sympathy card last night expecting to use the Level 2 Sale-A-Bration item “Lasting Lily” because, well, it has a beautiful lily image and several sentiments that are perfect for this occasion.  However, I wound up using the sentiments but taking a totally different direction for the card.  I do that sometimes (after all it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind, isnt’ it?)  Let’s take a look:  Botanical Butterfly meets Lasting LilyThe beautiful “Botanical Butterfly” DSP is a Level 1 Sale-A-Bration item (meaning you earn it for FREE with a qualifying $50 order).  That paper is just so gorgeous!  I find myself looking at it but not wanting to cut it up and use it.  Does anyone else have that problem?  The prettier the paper, the harder it is to cut it up.   But in my head I know that it looks a lot better in a card that is going to brighten someone’s day when they open their mailbox than sitting on my  shelf. #loveitchopit #makeacardsendacard

This card is headed for someone special, someone who I refer to as my Stampin’ UP! mom (she introduced me to Stampin’ UP!  many years ago and set my life on a totally different trajectory!  Boy, I’m so glad she did! – But that’s a story for another time).  Her Mom passed away over the weekend.  I definitely needed to chop up my gorgeous DSP  to make a sympathy card for her!

This card is so beautiful because the DSP does all the heavy lifting!  All I had to do was to stamp the sentiment, crop it with an oval framelit, layer it with a stitched oval, place it over a belly band that picks up the tiny black layer, and I was done!  I did use a piece of copier paper on the inside and stamped a sentiment on that.  TIP:  Whenever I use a colored card base, I always add a plain white copier paper insert – it makes it easier to read & write on white than on color.

I was able to earn both the Botanical Butterfly DSP and the Lasting Lily stamp set at the same time.  I try to make it a habit to never place an order less than $150.  Why?  First of all, shipping is a minimum of $6.95 up to an order of $69.95 (it becomes 10% of the order after that), AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, at $150 you earn Host Rewards EVEN IF THE ENTIRE ORDER IS YOURS (you don’t have to host a party or a workshop to earn those host rewards!)  So if I placed a $150 order, I’d earn 10% in Host Rewards.  If I placed 3 – $50 orders, I’d pay more in shipping and I wouldn’t earn any host rewards.

So, during Sale-A-Bration, you definitely want to place orders in $50 increments so you can earn FREE Sale-A-Bration items.  But if you can, I suggest you place your order for a minimum of $150 to earn those host rewards too.  (I often use those host rewards to stock up on adhesive or envelopes, and occasionally to indulge in  a stamp set I might not otherwise order).  If you really want to maximize your savings, place a $250 order.  These BIG SPENDERS either order all for themselves, or gather a few orders from friends and family.  At $250 you earn a $25 Host Reward Bonus so you’ll get $25 (10% of $250) and $25 for a total of $50 in Free Products, AND 5 -Level 1 Sale-A-Bration rewards!!

Now is also a good time to order a 12 month PrePaid Paper Pumpkin Subscription ($209) because you’ll earn Free Sale-A-Bration items and you’ll get closer to that $250 Big Spender level.

To learn more about Sale-A-Bration, read my blog post here.  Then head over to my online store, and place your order to earn your FREE Sale-A-Bration items.

Buffalo Check

I may be a little bit late to the Buffalo Check party, but I’ll be making up for lost time for sure!  As soon as I saw the Buffalo Check background stamp in the 2018 Holiday Catalog, I knew I had to have it!  But since I was pacing my budget with the trip to Orlando, FL for OnStage, I didn’t get it right away.    My order arrived a few days before Thanksgiving but today was the first day I could actually ink that stamp up and use it.  This is the first card I made with it:   Buffalo Check Christmas Plaid

I used Black Momento ink on Whisper White cardstock to stamp the Buffalo Check image.    If you subscribe to my mailing list, you’ll be able to download my free report ““The 8 Essential Tools Every Paper Crafter MUST have to be Successful” .  #2 is a clear flexible ruler.  I used this ruler and my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write marker to draw lines between the checks to create more of a ‘plaid’ than Buffalo Check.  I really love the way it turned out.

I used the Country Home stamp set to stamp the milk can and colored it using the Basic Gray Stampin’ Blends markers.  I added hi-lights with the Stampin’ Blends Color Lifter.  (You can get this FREE from me; see below.)    Then I cropped some pine needles from Old Olive cardstock, a berry spring in gold foil sheets, and leaves in Vellum.  I stamped the candy canes in Cherry Cobbler ink and fussy cut them out. I stamped the sentiment from the Winter Woods stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White and fussy cut that out as well.

Every where I look, I see Buffalo Check patterns, from clothing to housewares, to Christmas decor.  It’s so on trend.  I love that Stampin’ Up! offers us products that are so trendy.  I stamped several pieces of cardstock, in different colors, so I plan on making lots of cards with Buffalo Check backgrounds!  Follow my Facebook page to see them all.

Sunday Stamps Challenge

I think challenges are a great way to stretch your creativity, and so I am endeavoring to play along with 2 challenges each week.  This week, I chose to play along with The Sunday Stamps challenge.  The sketch is a great layout which allowed me to showcase our beautiful DSP and the stunning Hibiscus flower from “Humming Along” the soon to be released stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  (Yes, my last blog post featured this flower as well and you can see that here).  Here is the sketch that inspired today’s project:

Sunday Stamps Challenge 192And here is my take on it:

The gorgeous gingham DSP is a new paper called Gingham Gala and it will be available in Jan 2019 in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Occasions Catalog, along with the “Humming Along” stamp set.  I colored in the Hibiscus with our Stampin’ Blends markers in Daffodil Delight.     I love how the darling gingham just pops against a the tiniest bit of Basic  Black.  And because no envelope should be left naked…

Humming Along Yellow Hibiscus

The gingham paper has a larger check on one side, and a smaller check on the other.  I used the larger check to dress up the envelope flap so it coordinates perfectly but isn’t an exact match.

I hope you like my project today.  I encourage you to play with the Stampin’ Blends markers.  It is so easy to create a perfectly shaded and hi-lighted image with our Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.  Here’s an up-close of the flower colored with the Stampin’ Blends so you can see the shaded and hi-lighted areas.

Humming Along

One of the stamp sets I got during Prize Patrol at OnStage last week is a line art stamp set called “Humming Along”.  Not only does the line art give me the chance to color with my watercolor pencils or Stampin’ Blends, but the fonts in the stamp set are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!  Let’s take a look at the stamp set:

Humming Along

That gorgeous Hibiscus flower!  Right?  Now look what happens when you add some color with our Stampin’ Blends:Humming Along

So simple yet so striking!

How I did it:

I used Old Olive cardstock for the card base, and layered my Whisper White panels with Basic Black.  I used Tuxedo Black Momento Black ink and shaded with Cherry Cobbler (light & dark), Old Olive (light & dark) and Crushed Curry (light & dark) Stampin’ Blends markers.

I saw these flowers all over Florida and even snapped a few pictures of these red beauties: Hibiscus in Orlando FL

Cling Mount Stamps

The Humming Along stamp set is the new “Cling” type stamp set.  Not familiar with Cling?  Click here to learn all about the new Cling stamps from Stampin’ UP1

This stamp set will be available in the 2019 Occasions Catalog which goes live to customers January 3, 2019.  Can’t wait?  I can show you how you can get this stamp set sooner.  Ask me here.

Want another look at my project?  Here is it again: Humming Along

Stampin’ Blends

If you haven’t tried the Stampin’ Blends yet, grab yourself a few.  I started with a few basic color combinations (I choose green, yellow, red/pink to make flowers and added to my color collection from there.  Of course, I got the Color Lifter as well so I could remove my mistakes and add hi-lights.  Order Stampin’ Blends here.

I find coloring with the blends to be therapeutic; it’s so calming and relaxing and just plain fun.  Just start coloring and soon you’ll be just humming along, and then; the end result?  Something to be so proud of!  Your friends and family will oooh and aaaah over your creations for sure!

I love hearing from you.  Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think about the Humming Along stamp set or my project.  Thanks friends!  COMMENT HERE.

I’ve been Making Christmas Bright

Hi Stampers,  I love getting a jump start on making Christmas Cards and this past week I’ve been busy making Christmas Bright, thanks to the new Making Christmas Bright stamp set and coordinating Christmas Bulb Builder Punch (Bundle and Save 10%)

I love, too, when I get more mileage out of a Christmas stamp set by using it year round, and this bundle does just that.  Now that’s what I call Making Christmas Bright!

Making Christmas Bright

I love the cheerful, rainbow of colors and the festive combination of Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick.  The pop of Silver Metallic gives just the right amount of bling!  A bit of Wink of Stella gives the light bulbs some added shine.  Making Christmas Bright up close light bulbsHere’s a look at the Making Christmas Bright Bundle:
Making Christmas Bright Bundle

One thing that made working with the tiny light bulb pieces a piece of cake is the new Take Your Pick tool.  After punching out multiple light bulbs from colored cardstock and light bulb bases from Silver Metallic Foil, this tool allowed me to pick up the pieces with ease and place them just where I need them to be.  I don’t think I would want to put these light bulbs together without it!  Make sure you grab a Take Your Pick Tool when you order this bundle!

The Stamparatus also made easy work of stamping the sentiment.  This is 2 stamps and getting them lined up within the circle (which I cropped out before stamping) is so easy with the stamparatus.  I love this more and more every time I use it!

I know that you want to recreate this card for yourself, and you can!  My supply list is below so that you can get the supplies you need to make this card for yourself.

Now I told you that the Making Christmas Bright stamp set can also be used year round.  I’ll be sharing two projects I made with this stamp set that aren’t Christmas in an upcoming blog post.  My mailing list subscribers will actually get to see them first!  If you aren’t on my mailing list, you can subscribe here.
I hope my project will be Making Christmas Bright for you too!
If you have any questions for me, leave them in the comments and I’ll be sure to get back to you!  I may even answer your question in an upcoming newsletter edition.

It took less than 10 minutes to complete this!

Sometimes things just fall together so perfectly and this was one of those times.  I made this card is less than 10 minutes!  Share What You Love for the Paper Players 399

Not so shabby for a quick card, huh?  Want to know my secret?  I thought you did.  I’ll tell you in one word.  Inspiration!

I got my inspiration from the Paper Players sketch challenge this week.  I saw their sketch and immediately thought that this sketch would be a great way to show off the beautiful paper from the Share What You Love Specialty DSP.  Tranquil Tide and Mint Macaron pair together so beautifully (I’m so glad that Stampin’ Up! brought Mint Macaron back!) and I knew I wanted to use that color combination.  The more I thought about it, I knew I wanted to use the new “Subtle” Textured Impression Embossing Folder and of course, the Lovely Floral TIEF which is in the same product suite as the DSP.  The Share What You Love DSP is so striking with the pearlized finish that a little strip is enough to create some ‘wow’!

Let’s take a look at the sketch: The Paper Players sketch challenge PP399And here’s another look at my card:

Because I immediately ‘saw’ what I wanted to make with this sketch, and knew what colors to use, I was able to get right down to business and cut cardstock to size, emboss, glue, and stamp the sentiment and finish off the card with a couple of coordinating Tranquil Tide pearls from the Share What You Love Artisan  Pearls.  This literally took less than 10 minutes from start to finish!

Can you see the subtle texture in the Tranquil Tide layer?  That is from the new Subtle TIEF.  It looks very much the same as the ‘textured’ cardstock that Stampin’ UP! used to sell, probably about 10 years ago.  As the name implies, it’s a very subtle finish, but enough to give more interest than a plain piece of cardstock.  I think this will be showing up in many more of my projects!

If you want to buy this embossing folder, or any thing else, please feel free to shop my online store, open 24/7 for your shopping pleasure!

Have you ever been inspired by something you’ve seen to create something?  Have you ever just ‘seen’ something that you can go right to your craft room and just make it?  Feel free to leave a comment about a time when this happened to you.

Now before you run off, please make sure to sign up for my mailing list, and I’ll send you my Free Report “The 8 Essential Tools Every Paper Crafter Must Have to Be Successful”.

Happy Stampin,

Nancy

What do a Kangaroo and A Koala Bear have in common?

What do a Kangaroo and a Koala Bear have in common?  Well for starters, they both begin with the letter “K“.  And they both hail from Australia.   And they both can be found in the new stamp set call “Animal Outing”.  And since they are both Animals, it is a perfect fit for the Paper Players Theme Challenge this week!

Paper Players Theme Challenge Animals PP396

I used the Animal Outing stamp set for my card.  Animal Outing Stamp Set #146600

Apparently the Momma Kangaroo is babysitting for her friends baby as she has a Koala bear in her pouch!

Aren’t they so cute together?  I didn’t expect that!

Here is the card I made:  Animal Outing  I used several of the new colors just introduced to us by Stampin’ UP!.  First of all, I used Gray Granite ink to stamp the Kangaroo image and Gray Granite cardstock for that image panel layer.  Next I used Balmy Blue, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green cardstock for the background.  I used Granny Apple Green ink to  stamp up the leaves and I fussy cut them out and popped them behind the main image panel.  For my sentiment, I stamped in Berry Burst ink and cropped a circle of Berry Burst cardstock to layer my punched sentiment.  The card came together quickly, and a few dimensionals behind my layers give me height and dimension for interest and gives the leaves a place to pop out from.

So, what do a Kangaroo and a Koala bear have in common?  They both are perfect for welcoming a new little one into the world!  And they both are just plain cute together!

There are many  exciting coordinating products in the Animal Expedition Suite that coordinate with this stamp set.  You’ll find thinlits dies, designer series paper, and embellishments.  You’ll definitely want to add this to your collection.  And when you bundle the stamp set and thinlits, you’ll save 10%!  Sweet, right?

Don’t forget to bounce over to the Paper Players blog to see all the Animal Antics.  Before you go, make sure to SUBSCRIBE TO MY MAILING LIST, and LIKE MY FACEBOOK PAGE.   That way you and I can be friends and you won’t miss anything from me.

As always you can click on any of the highlighted product names in the blog post above, or click here, to shop my online store.  I appreciate if you would use the Host Code if your order is less than $150.  Thanks!

Introducing the 2018 In Colors with Varied Vases

Each year in the beginning of June when the new catalog makes it’s debut,  5 new In Colors are introduced.  The In Colors are designed to be trendy colors that will only be around for 2  years.  I’d like to introduce you to the 2018-20 In Colors2018-20 In Color Collection I made this set of 5 mini cards with my class earlier this week and the consensus was that everyone loved the new 2018-20 In Colors, & the Varied Vases stamp set!    You can see other projects I made with the Varied Vases stamp set here.Let me introduce you to the new 2018-20 In Colors, one by one.

Say “Hello” to Call Me Clover, a rich, luscious shade of green.

Say hello to Call Me Clover and Varied Vases

Next up, is Lovely Lipstick, a bright, primary color shade of red.  Just a touch ‘pinker’ than Real Red.

The bright, primary Blue color is called Blueberry Bushel.  The flowers are outlined in Blueberry Bushel full strength.  The filler flower is stamped off and then stamped to create this lighter shade of blue.

Our next color is called Grapefruit Grove and it is a soft shade of a peachy coral.  This card also features the flowers filled in with a stamped off lighter shade of the same color.

Last but not least is called Pineapple Punch.  This rich vibrant shade of yellow is so bright you might need to wear sunglasses!

These little 3″ x 3″ mini cards are made for the Whisper White 3 x 3 envelopes.  And the whole set fits just perfectly in a Mini Pizza Box, perfect for gift-giving!

Which of the new 2018-20 In Colors is your favorite?  Please leave me a comment, I love to hear from you!

Click here to order the 2018-20 In Colors, the Varied Vases stamp set, or any item from the Stampin’ Up! catalog.  If your order is less than $150 (before shipping and tax) please use Host Code EC9EGJR6.  If your order is $150 or more, do NOT use the Host Code but rather claim the Host Rewards for yourself!

The Top 3 ‘Must Haves’ from the new 2018 Catalog

If you’re like me, you have been pouring over the new 2018-19 Stampin’ UP! Annual Catalog and making your Shopping List.  Well the time is here that you can order from this catalog.  You can view the catalog by clicking on the image below or in the right sidebar. 2018-19 Annual Stampin' Up! catalogYou can download a printable Shopping List here.

There are a couple of items that I think EVERYONE should have  – they are my Top 3 ‘Must Haves’.

First is the new Stamparatus.

In my last few newsletters, I’ve been sharing videos from Stampin’ Up! showing how awesome this new stamp positioning tool is and why I think every stamper should have a Stamparatus of their very own.  If you’ve missed them, you can access the videos here.

Second are the new colors.

As soon as the new catalog, and new InColors make their debut each year,  I make sure to purchase the whole InColor collection; cardstock, ink pads, markers and ribbon and DSP if available.  This year we not only have 5 new 2018-20 InColors, but we have been treated to a Color Revamp!  A fresh new palette of colors to play with!  2018-20 In Color Collection2018/20 In Color Ink Pad collectionStampin' Up! New Color Collections

I did ‘go all out’ and get all of new colors of cardstock and ink pads.  Some of the colors are returning colors, such as Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow and Poppy Parade.  I still had those colors of cardstock and ink pads.  Although the ink pads have gone under a redesign (including a re-formulation to the ink itself), I chose NOT to replace those ink pads, at least for the time being.  But all of the newly  introduced colors such as Merry Merlot, Gray Granite, Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, Shaded Spruce & Balmy Blue have all found their way into my home and My Stampin’ Space!

Third is Varied Vases & Vase Builder Bundle

The stamp set that I think is going to be the most reached for stamp set from the new catalog is called Varied Vases. Varied Vases Bundle

This stamp set, and coordinating Vase Builder punch, is available as a bundle so you can save 10%!   This stamp set was designed by my upline Mary Fish who had the distinct privilege of designing her own stamp set as a reward for reaching a major milestone: $1 Million in sales over her career!  The stylish vases, the fresh florals and the cute sentiments in a lovely font style all add up to a “wow” stamp set.  Photopolymer makes stamping  the outline and filling in the florals a breeze.  I shared the card I made for Mary Fish using this stamp set on a previous blog post.  You can see that blog post here.    I also used this stamp set to introduce my students to the new 2018 In Colors at my last class.  Check back as I’ll be sharing that project on my next blog post.

So there you have it.  My Top 3 ‘Must Haves’.  Now that you’ve seen my top picks, what are yours?  Did my Top 3 make it on your list?  What reached your top 3?  Leave me a comment and share your thoughts with me.

Simply The Best (and you can get in on the action!)

I am having such a blast on my journey with Stampin’ Up!  I never imaged where this gig would have taken me and the people I have met, and the friends I have made along the way.  I am so blessed by it all!   It has been simply the best!

Simply the Best

I am honored to be part of Mary Fishs’ Stampin’ Pretty Pals.  Mary is the best of the best when it comes to all things Stampin’!  I was drawn to her style: clean, simple, sophisticated and chic!

Mary has been honored to be #1 Globally in Sales, Recruiting and Leadership.  Last fall she achieved the One Million Dollar Mark in Sales! I think that makes her simply the best.   As such she was recognized with having a stamp set designed just for her.  This is her stamp set and punch bundle.  Varied Vases BundleThis bundle will be available to purchase June 1st when the 2018/19 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog is released.  As a demonstrator, one of the perks I enjoy is an early pre-order.  I was able to get this bundle several weeks ago.  Sweet, right?

This is the card I made for Mary to let her know what I think of her!  ( I mailed the card weeks ago, I sure hope she has received it before seeing this post! )

I think Mary is simply the best!  And her stamp set and punch bundle rock!  Of course the stamp set wasn’t the only new product on this card.  I created an ombre effect background of all our red cardstock, starting from the bottom up, Merry Merlot, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Lovely Lipstick and Poppy Parade.  You can see the variation in colors in all of these luscious shades of red.

You will also be able to order the new colors of Merry Merlot, Lovely Lipstick and Poppy Parade on June 1st.

Well, I hope Mary likes her card as much as I like her stamp set and punch.  If you want to join me on this fun journey with Stampin’ Up!, order your $99 Starter Kit today and let’s see where it takes you!  My prediction is that you’ll make new friends, discover new talent and confidence and enjoy the ride!  My Stampin’ UP! journey is simply the best and yours can be too!

Get Inked Up! New Ink Pad Redesign

The new 2018/19 Annual Stampin’ UP! catalog release is just days away and I couldn’t be more excited to share this new catalog with you!    One of the biggest product changes creating a lot of buzz is the redesign of the Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads.  I think these improvements are going to get you fired up to get inked up.

Watch this video to see the new ink pads in action and the newly designed case, labels and ink formula.

Isn’t that exciting! I just love the new design and since the pads stack, they take up less space and make storage more efficient. Gotta love that!

The ink formula just glides on and stamps so smoothly and creates a much more even stamped image.  Get inked up over that, too!

2018/20 In Color Ink Pad collection

The new ink pads will be available for all colors, including all of the new colors, on June 1st.  You can order the 2018-20 In Colors Ink Pad Collection as part of the Pre-Order right now.    When you order any of the Share What You Love bundles available in Pre-Order now, you’ll receive the new redesigned ink pads too.

Shop my online store now.   (And please use host code 9UBBQ3MG if your order is less than $150 before shipping and tax. – thanks!)   Now, Go Get Inked Up!

This is the most exciting time of year

This is the best time of year to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator; it’s the most exciting time of year, even more so than Christmas!  This is when the demonstrators get to see the new Annual Stampin’ UP! catalog and even get to order some sneak peak items!

Last weekend I attended the Stampin’ UP! OnStage event in Hartford, CT.  There the new catalog was unveiled, I got to meet up with some old friends, make new friends, partied a little bit, hear some exciting announcements from the home office, and take home some new, not yet released stamp sets and accessories.  And yes, I took home a new catalog too, along with some swag!  And of course, the swaps!  More on that in my next post.

Of course the new catalog brings new products which is very exciting.  In order to make way for new, some products will be retiring.  You can see the list of Retiring products here and here.

The announcement that created the most excitement was the Color Revamp for 2018! 2018 Stampin' UP! Color Revamp

In addition to the InColor program (where 5 new colors are added each year for a 2-year duration) several colors are being retired, and some new colors are being added, and some previously retired InColors are coming back for a permanent placement in the current color line-up.  So without any further adu, let’s take a look.

First, here are the In Color Collections. Each collection is available for a 2-year period.  Each color a set of 5 colors is cycled in, and a set of 5 colors is rotated out. This shows both In Color collection side by side.  Stampin' Up! InColorsNext we have some returning colors that will now have a permanent place in our color line-up.  Stampin' Up! Returning ColorsI’ve been pining the loss of Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss and have been hoping for their return.  So glad to welcome all of these colors back!

In order to keep up with current color trends and to keep our color palette fresh, several brand new colors are being introduced.  Here they are: Newly added colors to the Stampin' UP! Color CollectionWhen you put it all together, this is what the new color palette for 2018 will look like:  Stampin' Up! New Color CollectionsBasic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White have been moved out of the Neutrals Collection, into a Basics Collection, in order to keep all of the colors in each collection an exclusive Stampin’ Up! color.  This actually creates a total of 53 colors, versus the 50 that were available previously.

I told you this is the most exciting time of year!   As a demonstrator I can pre-order these colors and they are on their way to me.  I’ll be posting color swatches of the new colors along side current colors so you can see how they compare.

Of course to make room for new colors and returning colors, other colors had to be retired.  Colors that are no longer as fresh and trendy are retired.  The list of retiring colors is as follows:

Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, and Wisteria Wonder.  All items in these colors will be retired (cardstock, ink, ribbon, etc.) and will be available until May 30th or while supplies last.  My advice would be stock up on these retiring colors now before they are sold out.  You can shop your favorite color by color collection here.  Just click on the color you want and you’ll see every item in that color!  Pretty cool, right?

Now I know I just gave you a lot of information to digest.  You can get
