Mad for Plaid

I just love plaid, especially buffalo check plaid, so it’s fair to say that I am Mad for Plaid! I was so excited when I saw this cute little 1/4″ Black & White Gingham ribbon in the Holiday Mini Catalog!

BLACK & WHITE 1/4" (6.4 MM) GINGHAM RIBBON

Even more exciting is that the one of the patterns of paper in the Peaceful Prints DSP (available for FREE during SaleABration with a qualifying $50 order) has these adorable tiny Christmas Trees in a green and Black Buffalo Check. I just knew I had to combine this paper and ribbon!

Don’t you just love this? Doesn’t it make you Mad for Plaid also? So quick and easy, but oh so cute!

How it’s made

I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock cut to 5-1/2″ x 6 and folded it in half to make a 5-1/2″ x 3″ card base. Then I added a piece of this cute DSP from the Peaceful Prints which was mounted onto a Garden Green layer. I wrapped a piece of the B&W 1/4″ Gingham ribbon around that panel and tied it in a bow, before adhering it to the card base. I stamped the sentiment in Momento Black ink onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock and fussy cut with my Paper Snips before popping it up on mini Dimensionals.

Here’s another card I made with 2 little variations:

Looks almost the same, but this time I kept the whole sentiment rather than just cropping out part of it. And I tied the ribbon in a knot, rather than a bow. Then I tied on another scrap of ribbon to give more of a rustic look.

Which card do you like best? Leave me a comment below.

Sale-A-Bration Shopping Improvements

As this year’s second Sale-A-Bration event approaches, we’d like to provide clarification about the checkout process.

To enhance the shopping experience, we’ve made improvements to the online store—specifically the process of selecting Sale-A-Bration items while shopping. When shopping the Online Store during Sale-a-Bration from 3 August to 30 September—the earned Sale-A-Bration items will be selected during the checkout process.

Once a customer has finished shopping and reviewed their cart, they will be alerted about their Sale-A-Bration earnings. When they proceed to checkout, they will then select their Sale-A-Bration items. They will not be able to continue the checkout process until they have either selected their free products, or acknowledged the option to proceed to checkout without free products. This was adjusted in order to prevent customer confusion and ensure customers pick their free products.

For more information about this change, please watch the walkthrough video below.

Some Hi-Lights from the 2021 January – June Catalog

If you are an active customer of mine, the new catalogs are on their way to you. Catalogs were mailed out on Dec. 9th and shipped via Bulk Mail but due to the delays the USPS is experiencing, I know many of you have not received your catalogs yet. But the 2021 Catalogs are here and you can view them online here on my blog until the mailman delivers yours to you.

Let me know what your favorite product/suite is from the 2021 January-June catalog!

the Best of the 2020 Holiday Catalog

January 4, 2021 is the LAST DAY to order from the 2020 Holiday Catalog so I thought I’d share a collection of my favorite Christmas projects that I made with products from the 2020 Holiday Catalog.

Red Foil Poinsettia
Tall & Skinny Poinsettia in Petal Pink and Gray
Rococo Rose Poinsettia
Lots of White Space
Sweet Gift Packaging

The Poinsettia Petals stamps and dies seem to be a clear winner here! Even thought the cards I made to mail out used the Nativity Bundle (and I don’t have any pictures!). The Peace and Joy stamp and die bundle came in 2nd. Just 1 day left to grab your favorite from the 2020 Holiday Catalog.

I showed you my favorite Christmas projects from the 2020 Holiday Catalog. Now it’s your turn! Leave me a comment with your favorite from all the projects I posted. Thanks!

Now that Christmas is Over…

So I was asked if I offer Gift Certificates by relatives of one of my customers, and of course my answer was YES! OF COURSE I OFFER GIFT CERTIFICATES! Not only do I offer Gift Certificates, but I usually make a special Gift Certificate Holder to go along with it. So I made 2 special gift certificate holders and I’d like to share one of them with you today. I waited until I knew my customer received her gift before revealing it publicly here. So here goes;

I love the Sentiments in the Peace & Joy Bundle – you can cut out skinny words and 2 sizes of backgrounds for each word, plus there are other words that you can combine to make all sorts of phrases. This bundle is retiring and may sell out so if you are considering it; now’s the time to grab it! The Gold Hoop Embellishments are a great way to make a focal point stand out even more so! The Heartwarming Hugs DSP is a great background for this card. If you enjoy fussy cutting, then you’ll have as much fun making this card as I did! The leaves and holly berries were cropped out with a quick snip from my paper snips!

You can shop my online store here to snag this bundle and the DSP before it’s gone.

The 2021 Jan-June mini catalog and the Jan-Feb 2021 Sale-A-Bration catalogs begin in just a few short days. If you haven’t gotten your catalogs in the mail as of yet, they will be available to view online right here on Jan 5th.

Merry Moose Gift Card Holder

I needed to make some gift card holders, and a card I had just made using the Merry Moose punch was in front of me, and it was the perfect inspiration! I used the elements from the card to make a Merry Moose Gift card holder. And it’s not just any gift card holder; it’s got some motion to it!

Don’t you just love our adorable Merry Moose? He is cropped out with the Moose punch. Both the Merry Moose stamp set and Moose punch are being retired! So if you want to get your hands on this guy, act fast!

All items that are being retired as part of our Giant Year End Close-Out Sale are while supplies last.

The Giant Year End Close-Out begins Dec 8th and ends Jan 4th or when supplies run out. Many items are deeply discounted, and we are anticipating that many items will sell out quickly. Click Here to shop my online store.

Did you watch me make this?

At the beginning of the month, I attended the Stampin’ UP! event “OnStage@Home”. Twice a year, I’ve been attending this conference at different cities around the Eastern part of the country, gathering with several hundred, or thousand, Stampin’ UP Demonstrators. But this year, OnStage was a Covid edition – at home! But I wasn’t going to let that stop me from gathering with a few of my closest demonstrator friends!

I hosted OnStage@Home at MyStampinSpace Studio where I have a large screen and projector so we were able to watch the virtual event on a big screen. We had swaps, makes & takes, games and prizes! Here are a few photos from that event:

One of the things I did after that event was to make a renewed commitment to making videos and doing Facebook Lives on a regular basis. If you follow my Facebook page, you’ll see that I’m now doing a Facebook Live on Wednesday nights at 7pm (EST). This past week, I shared some sneak peeks from the Jan-June 2021 and 2021 SaleABration catalogs. You can watch that video here.

I used some of the new products to make this card:

Painted Texture Art Gallery in Bermuda Bay

If you were watching me on FB Live, then you made this card with along with me. The background Paper is Oh So Ombre in Bermuda Bay and that great texture on the background is from a new Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. The flower and sentiment are from Art Gallery and the dies to cut it out are from Floral Gallery dies.

I made this card in Blackberry Bliss as well. Would you like to see that? Oh, just kidding, I already know the answer! Of course you would, so here it is:

Art Gallery Blackberry Bliss

Did you notice that gorgeous Painted Texture embossed background? Let’s take a close-up look:

Painted Texture 3D Embossing

So now that you’ve seen both, which color do you like better, Blackberry Bliss or Bermuda Bay? Let’s take a side by side look to compare, then leave me a comment with your preferece.

I Finally got to play with this….

When I first saw the 2020 Holiday Catalog, several product suites caught my eye immediately. As I usually do, I made a wish list, then pared down my wish list into an A/B list. And although this product suite was one of my favorites, I pushed it to my B list. I did order this set and it came in a few weeks ago, but I hadn’t had time to pull it out and start using it until this weekend.

Oh my! I cannot convey just how much I am in love with this stamp set and dies and the little embellishments! And several of our specialty papers were just made to go with this set.

Do you want to know which product suite I’m talking about? Of course you do! It’s the Poinsettia Place Suite! And you’ll find it on pages 14, 15, & 16 of the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog.

Poinsettia Place Suite Collection # 155109

The Poinsettia Place Suite Collection includes stamps, dies, Designer Series Paper, Specialty vellum paper, ribbon and beaded pearls. You can order the whole collection with one order #155109 or individually.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the specialty flocked vellum so that’s what I grabbed to make my first card. Here it is:

I chose to make a tall and skinny card and I used Petal Pink cardstock to make my card base. I cut my cardstock to 8-1/2″ by 7-1/2″ and scored & folded it at 3-3/4″. Next I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 8″ x 3-1/2″. Then I cut a piece of Gray Granite CS to 7-3/4″ x 3-1/4″. I cut a piece of the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper to the same size and adhered that to the Gray Granite CS using strategically placed glue dots so they won’t be visible.

(Insider’s Tip: I used the RULE OF 3’s in laying out this card. I used a layer of Whisper White CS, the Whisper White CS strip and white pearls – white was used 3x’s. Same with Petal Pink – the cardbase, the ink color and the Poinsettia. And I used 3 Silver Berry Sprigs. Using the RULE of 3’s creates a more pleasing layout.) Try this in your next card.

Now for the fun part! I used more Petal Pink cardstock to cut 3 flowers; 1 each of the large, medium and small. The cool things with these dies are that they EMBOSS and cut! I actually did not stamp these flowers at all; just die cut with the embossing lines. I used a small strip of Stampin Seal+ to adhere the 3 flowers together. The finishing touch was a Beaded Pearl.

Next I cropped 3 berry twigs from Silver Foil and adhered those behind the poinsettia. I stamped the sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set onto a 3/4″ wide strip of Whisper White with Petal Pink ink. Then I cropped the end using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to make the fancy end. Next, I used Stampin Seal to adhere this to the card front and then I used Stampin Seal+ to adhere the Poinsettia with the Silver Berries onto the other end of the sentiment strip.

Let’s take a closer look at the Poinsettia:

Can you see all the gorgeous textures here? The vein lines embossed in the Poinsettia Petals, the velvet flocking on the Vellum and the silvery finish on the berries. And those beaded pearls – aren’t they just the perfect finishing touch? I just added 3 more packages of these beaded pearls to an order I just placed! I want to make sure that I don’t run out of these beauties!

Please leave me a comment and let me know if you like this card. Then stop back as I’ve made several more cards with the Poinsettia Place suite that I can’t wait to share with you in the coming days!

If you want to order to order any of the products I used, you can shop my online store here. Don’t forget the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper is on sale during the DSP Paper Sale going on thru October 31st!.

The Most Important Cards We can Make

As card-makers, we have a hobby that brings joy to ourselves in the process of creating and in sharing our hobby with others, but we also multiply that joy to the world around us as we give or mail our cards to others. While admittedly not the most joyful occasion, I believe the most important cards we can make are sympathy cards. When someone has lost a loved one, the simple act of receiving a card in the mail can make all the difference in the grieving process. Unfortunately, I can speak all too well to what receiving a sympathy card in the mail can mean to a person. Therefore, I always like to have a supply of Sympathy Cards on hand so that I can pop one out in the mail right away. I found myself without any sympathy cards on hand and needed to replenish my supply.

The stamp set is the Forever Fern and I used the coordinating Forever Flourishing Dies. The Sentiment comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

I like to keep sympathy cards simple and I think this card fills that role. With only White Cardstock, and 1 color of ink and Cardstock, you can make a simple but elegant card. In this case I used Misty Moonlight cardstock and ink. I really love this shade of blue; not too light or dark. But I also wanted to make this card in another color so I made in Pretty Peacock as well. Let’s take a look:

Feeling like I needed another color, I kept thinking I wanted something in the purple family, but somehow nothing was speaking to me. But then I remembered Fresh Fig, not really purple but still in that family. So I pulled out my retired stash of cardstock and made this again:

Here’s a photo of the dozen cards that I made:

So which color do you like best? Please leave me a comment with your favorite, or a suggestion for a different color. You know I love hearing from you.

I hope you don’t need to make any Sympathy Cards any time soon, but if you do, use this simple layout and share some love with someone whose heart is hurting. Trust me, it will be the most important card you’ll ever make!

If you need supplies to make this card, please shop my online store here.

Thanks,

Nancy

Wedding Wishes

My niece got married last weekend; her and her husband had a wedding outdoors with only a few immediate family members present. The ceremony was live streamed. While I couldn’t be there in person, I still wanted to send Wedding Wishes! And what better way than with a handmade card.

Petal Pink is such a soft color and I thought it would make for a perfect wedding card along with some touches of gold. A card base of Thick Whisper White was layered with Petal Pink cardstock then a piece of Designer Series Printed Paper in Petal Pink and white. The star of the show; the sentiment “Love & Laughter Forever After” comes from Forever Fern stamp set, as do the leaf and berries images. They were stamped in Petal Pink ink on Whisper White and colored Vellum and cropped with the Forever Flourishing dies. (Bundle the Forever Fern stamp set and Forever Flourishing dies and save!) A gold hoop and the gold edged petal pink ribbon add the embellishment which is capped off with a few Champagne rhinestones.

I was very happy with the finished card, and I hope Laura & Steve will like the card as well. Do you think this will convey my Wedding Wishes? Leave me a comment and tell me what you think.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. If you want any of the supplies I used today, you can click any of the underlined product names, or you can CLICK HERE to go straight to my online store to order any supplies you want. Speaking of wanting, did you check out the new online store?

New Online Store

There’s an awesome new feature called Wish List. Next to every item you’ll see a little Heart – when you click the heart it will add that item to a Wish List. And you can create multiple Wish Lists! Think Christmas Wish List, Birthday Party Wish List, etc. You can share the Wish List with others – so when your Mom or Husband asks what you want for Christmas, just share your wish list! When your party planning partner needs to know what supplies you need for the next Birthday party, you can share your list. You get the idea.

The other really great feature is the Real Time Inventory status. You’ll be able to see if an item is on low inventory (so you’ll want to grab that item right away rather than waiting) or on backorder.

If you haven’t already checked out the new Online Store, what are you waiting for? It’s a great experience and I’m sure you’re going to love it! You can also download a mobile app so you’ll have the Online Store where ever you go. Click here to check it out.

Thanks,
Nancy

Love You More Than….

The Nothing’s Better Than Bundle is the 1st bundle that I knew I just HAD TO HAVE when I flipped through the new Stampin’ Up! 2020 Annual Catalog. It speaks to all of my favorite things: Chocolate, Coffee, Cookies (chocolate chip cookies to be exact!) and Cocktails!! And the phrase “Love You More Than…” means that it describes my most favorite thing – my family!

I made this card for my husband. We recently had a chance to sneak away for an overnight getaway and I wanted to let my husband know how much I love him and I thought this stamp set would show him just that! Let’s take a look at the bundle, and then we’ll take a look at my card.

I love the font in this stamp set: it’s so retro looking! This stamp set is just so much fun! And pair it with all the different combinations of sayings and you have a plethora of fun!

So here’s my card:

Now my husband has seen me before coffee, so he really knows how much I NEED and LOVE my coffee every morning!

Do you like the ombre effect on the letters? I’ll let you in on a little secret: I colored a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using my Stampin’ Blend markers before cutting out the words.

To get the words lined up straight on my card, I simply used the paper I cut the words out of as a template. I lined this up on my card and held it in place with a piece of Washi Tape. Then I applied glue to the back of each word, and popped the words back into their place.

I then pulled off the template and my words were aligned straight onto the card base! Easy-peasy!

My husband loved my card, and said if I loved him more than coffee I must really love him! And it’s true – I do.

I can’t wait to make him a card that says I love you more than chocolate!

If you want the Nothing’s Better Than Bundle, you can order it here.

Please leave me a comment and let me know if you like this card. Thanks for stopping by my blog – see you soon!
