June Pals Blog Hop

My project features a new stamp set and 3 of the new In-Colors.  The stamp set, Simply Sketched, is a hostess set and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!  I chose to use the “With Heartfelt Sympathy” sentiment because of my need for a sympathy card, but the card would work equally as well with either of the 3 sentiments in the set.

While we talking about love at first sight, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new 2013-2015 In-Colors.  Many times I have to ‘warm up’ to new colors but not this year.  I actually got to see the new colors before they were released when I attended a Stampin’ Up! Regional Conference in April.  I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these new colors and start creating.  I chose to use Baked Brown Sugar for my base layer; I embossed half of this layer with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe blend perfectly to create a soft color palette.  I created the flags using the background stamp from “Oh Hello” and the 1″ square punch.  I scored the Crisp Cantaloupe flag using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to create some texture and dimension.

Sometimes I just don’t play well with others!

Well, this past Thursday was another Pals Paper Arts challenge.  Being a Pal, I have privvy to the sketch & color challenges so give me time to get my entry ready to go.

So I took a look at the color challenge real quick the week before and spent a couple days mulling over the colors in my mind trying to think of what I could make with those colors.  “Rich Razzleberry, Calypso Coral & Crumb Cake weren’t necessary colors I’d put together on my own, so this could be, well, a challenge”,  I thought.  That’s why they call it a Color Challenge!  So I went into My Stampin’ Space, pulled out these colors, and my new “Oh Hello” stamp set and went to work. PPA154

I was so proud of the way this card turned out, all I could say was “Thanks, Pals for putting together  color combo I never would have used on my own.”  Then I proceeded to get my blog post ready to go so I could go live Thursday morning and realized:

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge # 154

It was supposed to be Raspberry Ripple; not Rich Razzleberry!  DUH!!!  Really?  I had the wrong color combo!  I was so upset with myself that I cancelled my plans to post that card and go back to the drawing board.

Now I could have just recreated that card with the correct color, but the more I looked it, the more I liked it!  So I decided, right or wrong, I was going with my original card.    So this morning I woke up and decided I would post that card anyway.

Please leave me a comment and let me know how YOU like my card!  If you’d like to know how I made this, just ask and I’ll be happy to tell you.  Don’t forget that you can order this “Oh Hello” stamp set, or any other products from my secure online store just by clicking here.  Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space!  Come back again, and Happy Stampin’
