Birthday Wishes

Well, this week I decided to play along with CAS(E) this Sketch.  Participating in color and/or sketch challenges is a great way to stretch your paper crafting skills. ( And it’s also a great foundation if you ever feel your creativity is in a rut as it gives a great starting place!)

When I first saw this sketch, I thought “Hmm.”   I pondered it for a few days and then it came to me.  I knew I needed a masculine birthday card.  The simple color combo of Crumb Cake and Black came to me first.  Then the layout.  All I needed to do now was go down into My Stampin’ Space and find a stamp that would fit inside the circle.  “Endless Birthday Wishes” filled the bill just perfectly!  My answer to the sketch challenge: CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge

I really had fun with this sketch even though it seemed daunting at first!    I settled on gold stars but first tried two other colors for accents. I thought blue, and then thought yellow.   Since my 2014 InColors were already out, I punched a few stars in Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey and tried them on for size.

While I do like the blue and the yellow, I may have liked a brighter shade of each color, perhaps Marina Mist or Daffodil Delight as I didn’t feel that either color gave enough ‘pop’.  So I finally settled on Gold which I think contrasts nicely with the Crumb Cake & Black combo.
