Mojo Monday, Baby!

Well today is Monday so it’s time to get your Mojo on with the stampers over at Mojo Monday.  Here is the sketch that was provided and below that you’ll see my take on it.

I needed to make a baby card and this layout provided just the right basis for that.  I used the image from Embellished Events and the sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners.  The coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits  and a quick pass thru the Big Shot machine made easy work of cutting out the banner in the same shape as the stamped image.  The Big Shot and my Circles #2 die made easy work of cutting out all the circles, too and as well as adding the Polka Dots embossing to the solid color circle.   My color combination of Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals and Raspberry Ripple came from the luscious Print Poetry Designer Series paper stack available in the Spring Catalog.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my entry for today’s challenge.  Now, its’ time for YOU to get your mojo on.  Use this sketch for your project.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of this project – if you really like it, feel free to pin it to your Pinterest board or share it with a friend thru Facebook.  Happy Stampin’!

See you soon!  – Nancy

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love is in the air….

Frilly, roses, lace, chocolate – these are the things I think of when I think of Valentine’s Day.  So, while I usually don’t do frilly & lacey or vintage, I really wanted to do that for my Valentine’s Day Card.  So here it is:

Valentine's Day, hearts, roses, double bow, order Stampin Up, Stampin Up products, lace, Hearts a Flutter, Nancy GleasonWell, what do you think?  Please leave me a comment and let me know.     My initial inspiration was two-fold:  I fell in love with the Artisan Embellishment Kit (Spring Catalog pg. 10) as soon as I saw it.  I don’t know why because I normally don’t do all that frilly.  Maybe it was because for only $10 I was able to get a whole bunch of embellishments that I normally wouldn’t buy if I had to purchase each item individually.   I can branch out into the vintage world without a big cash outlay.

My second inspiration was the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding.  I knew just the bow I wanted to make for my card.  The Seam Binding ribbon falls so nicely and makes the perfect ‘romantic’ bow.  My Valentine’s Day card wouldn’t be complete without this bow!  The bow is my favorite part, especially with the seam binding ribbon rose in the center.

Putting it all together, I had predetermined my color combo would be Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake & a touch of Chocolate Chip for an accent color.  But when I pulled all my colors out, the Crumb Cake seemed too overpowering for this card.  So I dialed it down a notch by using Sahara Sand in its place.  I love Sahara Sand, so neutral but not plain Jane.  Beautiful & Soft.  Yup, that was the right color.  And Chocolate Chip gave way to Early Espresso as it just seemed to fit better.  As always, I start with a plan but let my creativity take over and just go in the direction things are calling me.

The hearts were stamped and die cut using the Hearts A Flutter stamp set and coordinating Framelits Die.   I love when I can get a stamp set and the coordinating framelits dies, and it’s even better when you can buy them as a bundle and save a bundle!  They were accented with Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer because every Valentine needs a smooch!  The heart on the right was outlined with our Pearl Basic Jewels.

The large lacey ribbon is part of the Artisan Embellishment kit. The fabric roses are the 5/8″ Flower Trim available in the Spring Catalog.  A string of roses; you can cut them apart to use individually or use a length as I did here.   They can be colored with our ink for endless possibilities!  Love them!

The sentiment is provided by Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and the coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits Dies.

I hope my hubby loves this card as much as I enjoyed making it.   Paired with a Dove Milk Chocolate bar (that’s his fav!) and I think I’ll get my message across!

And who knows, you just may see some more vintage, lacy & feminine from me in the future!

Thanks for stopping into My Stampin Space and sharing Valentine’s Day with me.  Come back & hang out with me again.

Mojo Monday 275

The design team over at Mojo Monday gave us yet another great sketch to work with this week.  Check out the sketch to the left, I can see so many possibilities.  I needed to whip up a quick birthday card for a friend who will be celebrating her birthday later this week and used this sketch as the basis for that card.

I also had some scraps of paper from the Summer Smooches DSP #125409 laying out on my workspace and this sketch is also a great way to use up  those strips of paper we all seem to accumulate.  So, without any further ado,  here’s my card!  MojoMonday 275

I love the Blue & Yellow color combination, especially Daffodil Delight and Island Indigo.  So crisp and cheerful!  The Mixed Blossom stamp set and the coordinating Blossom punch make stamping & cutting out the flower a snap.  The flower center is accented with a Glimmer Brad from our Brights Collection.

The sentiment is stamped with our Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and a quick trip through the Big Shot with the coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits , and presto!  A perfectly coordinated banner.

Thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space.  Leave me a comment and tell me what you think of my entry.  Then, go make a project yourself using this sketch and show me what you’ve done.

Happy Stampin!
