This is the most exciting time of year

This is the best time of year to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator; it’s the most exciting time of year, even more so than Christmas!  This is when the demonstrators get to see the new Annual Stampin’ UP! catalog and even get to order some sneak peak items!

Last weekend I attended the Stampin’ UP! OnStage event in Hartford, CT.  There the new catalog was unveiled, I got to meet up with some old friends, make new friends, partied a little bit, hear some exciting announcements from the home office, and take home some new, not yet released stamp sets and accessories.  And yes, I took home a new catalog too, along with some swag!  And of course, the swaps!  More on that in my next post.

Of course the new catalog brings new products which is very exciting.  In order to make way for new, some products will be retiring.  You can see the list of Retiring products here and here.

The announcement that created the most excitement was the Color Revamp for 2018! 2018 Stampin' UP! Color Revamp

In addition to the InColor program (where 5 new colors are added each year for a 2-year duration) several colors are being retired, and some new colors are being added, and some previously retired InColors are coming back for a permanent placement in the current color line-up.  So without any further adu, let’s take a look.

First, here are the In Color Collections. Each collection is available for a 2-year period.  Each color a set of 5 colors is cycled in, and a set of 5 colors is rotated out. This shows both In Color collection side by side.  Stampin' Up! InColorsNext we have some returning colors that will now have a permanent place in our color line-up.  Stampin' Up! Returning ColorsI’ve been pining the loss of Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss and have been hoping for their return.  So glad to welcome all of these colors back!

In order to keep up with current color trends and to keep our color palette fresh, several brand new colors are being introduced.  Here they are: Newly added colors to the Stampin' UP! Color CollectionWhen you put it all together, this is what the new color palette for 2018 will look like:  Stampin' Up! New Color CollectionsBasic Black, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White have been moved out of the Neutrals Collection, into a Basics Collection, in order to keep all of the colors in each collection an exclusive Stampin’ Up! color.  This actually creates a total of 53 colors, versus the 50 that were available previously.

I told you this is the most exciting time of year!   As a demonstrator I can pre-order these colors and they are on their way to me.  I’ll be posting color swatches of the new colors along side current colors so you can see how they compare.

Of course to make room for new colors and returning colors, other colors had to be retired.  Colors that are no longer as fresh and trendy are retired.  The list of retiring colors is as follows:

Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, and Wisteria Wonder.  All items in these colors will be retired (cardstock, ink, ribbon, etc.) and will be available until May 30th or while supplies last.  My advice would be stock up on these retiring colors now before they are sold out.  You can shop your favorite color by color collection here.  Just click on the color you want and you’ll see every item in that color!  Pretty cool, right?

Now I know I just gave you a lot of information to digest.  You can get

WOW!!!  It’s SO EASY to make awesome cards with this stamp set!

I recently held a class where we made this card: Epic CelebrationIf this looks familiar, it’s because I CASE’D it from the catalog!    I copied the front layer of the gift bag on page 12 of the Sale-A-Bration catalog and turned it into a card.  Sometimes you see something that is so perfect you just want to make it!   The Stampin’ Up! catalogs are chock full of wonderful examples just waiting for us to make!  Love it!   You can view the catalogs here.

Another class, another card using the Epic Celebrations stamp set.  This one features an inked embossing folder background and the sneakers are colored with the watercolor pencils and a blender pen.

I’m addicted to coloring!

My name is Nancy Gleason, and I’m addicted to coloring!  Adult coloring is such a popular hobby but when you are coloring with the Stampin’ Blends markers and the new stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!, it’s like adult coloring on steroids!  And I’m not ashamed it’s created an addiction!

The new round of Sale-A-Bration was just released on Feb. 16th and this new Blossoming Basket bundle with the Blossoming Basket stamp set and coordinating Basket Weave TIEF is enabling my addiction!  Let me show you what I’ve been working on:Blossoming Basket stamp set colored with Stampin' Blends

The coordinating Basket Weave Textured Impression Embossing Folder has a deep texture that is just the perfect compliment to this basket.  I added some ink to the TIEF to create even more depth!  A 2″ strip adds just enough texture to this card.

The more I use the Stampin’ Blends markers the more I love them!   Look at the shading you can achieve:  I used Crumb Cake for the basket, Daffodil Delight on the large rose, Calysp Coral for the smaller roses, Cherry Cobbler for the berries, and Old Olive for the leaves.  A small swipe of Ivory under the basket helps to ground it.

Blossoming Baskets in Yellows & Oranges

Have you tried the Stampin’ Blends yet?  I can’t get enough of them!  You can see some other projects I made with Stampin’ Blends here and here.  Come back again as I’ll have another card that I made with this stamp set but in a totally different color combination.

Sale-A-Bration

Blossoming Basket

This is the stamp set Blossoming Basket that is available for free during Sale-A-Bration with a qualifying order.  You can always order Stampin’ Blends to qualify for this stamp set which comes bundled with the Basket Weave TIEF. You can watch a video from Stampin’ UP! here on the Blossoming Basket bundle.

Click here to place an online order now.

So much to color and not enough time to do it!  Too bad I have to go to work every day!  I’d rather stay home and stamp and color all day! That would be much more fun, don’t you think?  After looking at what you can do with Stampin’ Blends markers, it’s not really a bad thing that I’m addicted to coloring!

I’m loving Lots of Lavender

Ever since I got my order with the new products from the  2018 Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration catalogs, I’ve had a hard time putting down the Lots of Lavender stamp set.  So much so, that I haven’t even opened up most of the other stamp sets I ordered.  YIKES, right?  I’m just loving Lots of Lavender so much – it’s so versatile.

To see some of the other projects I’ve created with this set, click here and here, or just go to my Pinterest Board Sale-A-Bration 2018.

So when the TicTacToe Challenge posted a new challenge and one of the squares was floral, guess what I chose?  Yup, that’s right – Lots of Lavender.  No surprise there, right?  So here is the challenge:

TicTacToeChallenge #030

And here is my submission, Right Column Down (Floral, No Sentiment, Purple).

Lots of Lavender, TTTC030, purple, floral, Nancy Gleason, My Stampin Space, Sale-A-Bration 2018

The beauty of this stamped image, accented by a bow of Tinsel Trim, speaks for itself – it doesn’t need a sentiment.  Shades of purple are used with just a touch of blue, green & pink.

Come back tomorrow to find out how to make this project yourself – I’ll be posting a project tutorial.

Aren’t you loving this stamp set?  You can get this set for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  As a level 1 reward, you can choose this item (#147194) an 11 piece photopolymer stamp set with a $50 purchase (before shipping & tax).  Click here to place an order, and please use Host Code  EV9JYCGC when placing an online order of $150 or less. Going for the Gold with the GDP!

This week the Global Design Project#109 is hosting a Color Challenge.  Here it is:

Global Design Project #109

And here is my entry:Deck the Halls for the GDP

The Carols of Christmas stamp set and Card Front Builder Framelits dies make making Christmas cards a snap! (And you can bundle and save 10%!)  The perfectly coordinating images and intricately detailed dies make it look like I’ve spent hours on this card, but it was easy enough to mass produce a lot of these cards in a short time period.  The Merry Music DSP makes for a nice background and the gold doilies add the right amount of bling with over-doing it.  (The Merry Music DSP is part of the Buy 3 Get 1 Free DSP sale going on thru October 31st.)

Want to know a little secret?  I actually designed this card last week for my #WorldCardMakingDay class.  As I sat down to write this post, I saw the GDP announced their Color Challenge and since I hadn’t shared this project yet, and the colors just fit this color challenge exactly, well, if the shoe fits….   Sometimes things just fall into place perfectly.

I highly recommend this product suite!  If you can only get 1 bundle or suite from the Holiday catalog, it would be a tough choice between this Merry Little Christmas product suite and the Quilted Christmas product suite.  Both have an awesome stamp set and coordinating framelit dies that can be used for more than just Christmas, and both have a complimentary array of embellishments.  If you missed my earlier posts showing the Quilted Christmas product suite, please click here and here.

Take a few minutes to head over to the Global Design Project to see all the awesome designs.

Here is another look at my card, and the supply list you’ll need to recreate this card yourself.  Click Here to shop my online store for any supplies.  Deck the Halls for the GDP

I’m still Quilting!

I just can’t put down the new Quilted Christmas suite of products!  I’ve already made quite a few Christmas cards using this set, (you can see a simple Quilted Christmas card here and even watch a video of how to make it!).  Today I wanted to make something using Autumn colors for the TicTacToeChallenge, and I’m still Quilting!  Who says the Quilted Christmas suite is just for Christmas?  Look what I made:I'm Still Quilting for Autumn!

TIC, TAC TOE CHALLENGE #16

For this challenge I used the diagonal from upper right to lower left; Autumn colors, paper piece and Free.

TTTC16My quilt square adorns a mini pizza box.     The autumn colors came from the Painted Autumn Designer Series paper.  The Quilt Builder Framelit dies make easy work of paper piecing. For free I chose to add metallic, which you can see is the sewing needle cropped from gold foil sheets.

Let’s take a closer look at the paper piecing.  paper piecing

Let there be CAKE!

And cake without calories is the best kind!

I’m excited today for two reasons;  first I got to break out one of my new stamp sets, Icing on the Cake!  Yeah, always fun, right?  Second, I get to play along with the Global Design Project this week!  And if the designers over there like my entry enough, I may even get the distinct honor of being their Guest Designer!  Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they like my entry as they are sorting through all of the entries this week!  I think that would be so cool!

So here’s the Color Challenge from GDP:

GLobal Design Challenge 093

I just love these colors together – so bright and playful!!!  Here is my entry:

Birthday cake

So many different techniques and textures came together to make this card.

The Recipe:

This card started like so many others; a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Whisper White card base with a few layers, in this case Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party.  That was followed by another layer of Whisper White which is supporting panel for my focal point; the awesome layer cake!  The bottom layer of the cake features a scrap of the Berry Burst Fresh Floral Designer Series paper, the middle layer is a scrap of Whisper White cardstock embossed with our new Embossing Paste that was colored with Lemon Lime ink, and decorative masks.  The Top layer is a scrap of whisper white cardstock that was stamped in Pool Party ink with the polka dots from the retired Celebrate Today stamp set.  Each layer was topped with a line of frosting from the Icing on the Cake stamp set.  A sweet little In Color Bitty Bow in Berry Burst tops it all.

The sentiment was heat embossed in White Embossing Powder on a scrap of Berry Burst cardstock.  I think being chosen as a guest designer would be the icing on the cake!

If you like my cake, please leave a comment for me.  Then be sure to head over the Global Design Project to see all the other entries.  The judges sure will have their work cut out for them!

The Icing on the Cake stamp set is going to be so versatile and I’m sure I’ll be reaching for it quite a lot for upcoming birthdays.  If you want to order this stamp set, or any of the items on your wish list, then you’ll want to make sure you take advantage of our Bonus Days promotion going on now.

Getting my Creativity on with The Paper Players

A cool color challenge

I got so many new stamps and such this week and I want to use them all!  But since I can only use one, or two, stamp sets at a time, I will have to carve out time each day to make something creative!  The color challenge from the Paper Players served to stretch my creativity and I’m so glad I played along!  Here is the color palette I had to work with:

The honest truth is that I probably never would have paired these colors on my own, but I forced myself to use them.  That got me thinking that, other than a floral, I would have to use 3 of something – one for each color.  Looking thru my new stamps for something that would work, the clothespins wrapped in baker’s twine from the Crafting Forever stamp set would be perfect!  I played with a layout and ultimately, this is what I came up with: Bakers Twine from Crafting ForeverI used the new Pinewood Planks TIEF to add texture to the background layer of Pool Party.  Then a layer of Lemon Lime Twist card stock behind the main Whisper White panel repeats the Lemon Lime splattered on that panel.  Touches of Texture was used for the splatters.   The saying is stamped in Pool Party ink.  Each clothespin wrapped in Baker’s Twine is stamped in the three colors from the Color Challenge: Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party, and then fussy cut.  The new Mini Dimensionals propped up these little guys with no trouble!  (Thank you, Stampin’ UP! for added those mini’s – they are the Best.Thing.Ever!)

Do you like my entry to the Paper Players?   I really, really love how this card turned out, and I have the Paper Players to thank for that!  This  really stretched my creativity but I’m so glad I participated!  Hop over to the Paper Players and see what others did with this color challenge.  But before you do, please leave me a comment and tell me what YOU think of my project.

Then make sure to come back here again because I have something juicy and zesty to share with you! I have a class tomorrow night so I may not be to write another blog post tomorrow,  even though I have my project ready to share. (I’ll try to remember to snap some photos and share them on my Facebook page.  My class is centered on the Color Theory bundle and we’ll be making some cool cards just in time for summer reading!)  Remember, if you want to get any of the products I used tonight, you can click on the item below, or just click here to start shopping.  A host code for June is listed to the right for any order you place with me that is less than $150 dollars.  Thanks,

Happy Stampin’ Friends,

Nancy

My Favorite Daisy -the Delightful Daisy bundle

Do you follow me on Facebook?  If you don’t, you missed out on seeing my bestie fav, My Favorite Daisy, that I made with new catalog products.  So click here to  Like my page right now.  I’ll wait.  Ahh, all done.  Now, you won’t miss another thing from me again!

Back to my favorite card.  The wood grain designer series paper was one of the things calling my name the loudest!  And that Daisy stamp and punch!  And the embellishments and ribbon.  Combine it with the luscious patterned Designer Paper in the Delightful Daisy suite and mix it all together and what do you get?  This:

Delightful Daisy and Woodgrain

Don’t you just love this?  The Wood Textures DSP is so realistic looking, and the patterned paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP reminds me of wall paper.  The gorgeous Crushed Curry 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon provides the perfect way to cover the seam where these two papers met.

The star of the show is the Delightful Daisy!  This stamp set and punch bundle has been uber popular since making it’s debut at the OnStage event in April where it was available as a pre-order for demonstrators.  As such, the Daisy Punch is currently on backorder and expected to be available at the end of the month, along with the Faceted  Gems (clear and gold) .  The Daisy Delight stamp set is available.

Did you notice the cute little tag? Of course you did!  It’s from the Wood Crate Framelits die set.  The sentiment is from Wood Words stamp set ( I used a marker to isolate and stamp each word individually to make it fit on the tag), and that gorgeous Copper 1/8″ ribbon adds the finishing touch!

I think the Daisy Delight product suite is going to be one of your favorites too!  You can see other projects I made with the Daisy Bundle here.  Please place your order for this bundle as soon as it becomes available again, so you are assured of getting it.  Now that you follow me on Facebook, I’ll be sure to keep you updated of the status of the punch, the bundle, the Faceted Gems and the 1/8″ Copper trim.

Thanks for hanging out in  My Stampin Space with me today.   I hope you enjoy it here. Please leave me a comment at the end of this post and tell me what you think of this card.  I love to hear from you!

And thanks for shopping with me when you need to place orders for your stampin’ supplies.  I’m always grateful!  I like to show my thanks by sending an email or even a handmade ‘thank you’ card in the mail, but when you select “No Contact”, I don’t even know who placed that order!  So a big ‘thank you’ to who placed an order – I don’t know who you are, but I’m still thankful for you!

See you, and Happy Stampin!
