How to Make a Simple Card

Hi Friends,

I finally had my chance I had to play with all of the Quilted Christmas products and even though I am not a quilter (I don’t even sew), I fell head over heels for the product suite!

Today I am going to share a video with teaching you how to make a simple Christmas card using this product bundle.  This is perfect for beginners as the coordinating products in the bundle do all the work for you to create beautiful cards!    Seasoned paper crafters will enjoy this product suite as you can create very detailed quilted projects.  #SomethingForEveryone!

Don’t miss my reference to another video within this video!  This is a trick that you will thank me for 🙂  You’re welcome!

So without any further adieu, let’s make a Christmas card:

What do you think?  Please leave me a comment; I love to hear from you.

Here’s another card I made using the same layout, just a different sheet of paper.

How to make a simple card using the Quilted Christmas suite

Which one do you like better?  The paper used in the video or in the photo?

I taught the ladies in my Mini Christmas Card Club how to make this card and they all loved it!  From being so simple, and just using one sheet of paper from the 6×6 stack, they all felt this was a great card when you have to make a lot.  It’s also a very versatile layout and the card can be used for any occasion just by switching the patterned paper and sentiment out.    With all the beautiful patterned paper that Stampin’ Up! offers, you can really let the paper do all the work!

Well, I hope you enjoyed making a card with me.  I will be blogging about the other cards I made using the Quilted Christmas product suite.  In the meantime, check out some of the inspiration from the catalog:Quilted Christmas Product SuiteIf you like Christmas, don’t forget to sign up for my mailing list.  Beginning Oct. 4th, my mailing list subscribers will get my 3rd Annual 12 Weeks of Christmas newsletter complete with an exclusive Christmas project delivered to their inbox each week.  If you’re not on my list, you won’t get those 12 Christmas project tutorials.

If you would like to purchase the Quilted Christmas bundle, or any other products, click here to shop my online store.

Happy Stampin’,

Nancy

It’s back!!!!

It’s back!!!

And I couldn’t be happier!  My blog has been knocked out service since Oct. 19th!!!  I’ve been (patiently) waiting for it to be restored.  And while I was able to have my blog restored, I did lose all of my October blog posts.  A small price to pay, as I was prepared with the possibility of losing everything and having to start all over.

It’s been a long time, and boy, do I have a lot to share with you!  For starters, look at this!nancy-with-catalogsI had a fabulous time at the OnStage Event in Secaucus, NJ last weekend where I got to get the new 2017 catalogs.  It was a fun-filled time spent with my downline, and other demo’s from the Northeast, gathered at the Meadowlands Convention Center.  I’ll share more about my trip to OnStage in a blog post later this week.

The highlight was the catalog reveal of the 2017 Occasions catalog (January 4 through May 31) and the 2017 Sale-A-Bration catalog (January 4 – March 31).  This is my favorite perk of being a Stampin’ Up! DemonstratorI get to see the catalogs BEFORE they are revealed, and order product from those catalogs!  If you want to enjoy this perk yourself, then join me in this incredible Stampin’ Up! journey!  For the cost of the starter kit, $99, you get all this and more!   Talk to me about getting your starter kit today.  You can join just for the perks, and stay for the discount, or drop without any obligation.

I’ve had the chance to play with one of the soon to be released stamp sets called   Cool Treats.   This is going to be one of my favorite stamp sets.  It’s so fun and playful.  I’ve made my November birthday cards from this set, and it’s so much cheery; I can’t wait until the coordinating product suite gets delivered to me tomorrow.  (Why didn’t I choose Express Shipping?  The wait is so long!)pitk62081

Another stamp set is called “Nailed It”.  I won this stamp set during Prize Patrol, and I am so happy I did.  I made this card for my hubby as soon as I got home.  The sentiment was perfect, and since he’s a woodworker, the tools are perfect for him. saw you

Here’s me so happy I won this at Prize Patrol:

This is what I promised you….and a bonus!

If you read my blog regularly, then you’ll know that I had my first stamp class in a long while on Monday night.  It was SO GOOD to stamp you again!  I’ve missed it.  I’m glad to be back 🙂

Yesterday I shared one of the two projects we made in my Monday night class.  If you missed that post, you can see it here.

This is the second project we made:  Milk CartonI’ve been seeing these little milk cartons a lot lately on my Pals Facebook Groups, and while I did not come up with the idea, or the measurements, to make this, I wanted to share it with my class.  Of course, we filled ours with candy!  What would Halloween, or a Stamp Class be without chocolate?

Milk Carton

The side view shows the fold that creates the milk carton look.

I made another one; just a tad taller, to perfectly fit the scene from the new Halloween Night Specialty DSP.

Mini Milk Carton Grey I love how the sentiments from Spooky Fun combine with the Halloween Night Enamel Dots to create the perfect little message panel.

The perfect way to close up these milk cartons is with the 1/8″ Circle Punch and the Coordinating Halloween Night Baker’s Twine.  But as you can see, my cartons are conspicuously missing this Twine.  That’s because someone forgot to order it!!!  How can I be so foolish, you ask?  Well lets just say that sometimes the best lessons are learned from the mistakes we make.  So please learn from my mistake:  when you order a Product Suite, make sure you order everything in that suite; especially when the item is on your wish list!    You’re welcome!

I wrote up instructions on how to make these cute little boxes, along with a diagram, for the ladies who attended my class last night.  And I’ll share those instructions with anyone who orders from my online store and uses HOST CODE 9QWR7K6M (if your order totals $150 or greater, before tax & shipping – do not use the host code but redeem the Stampin’ Rewards for yourself!)  This Host Code will expire at midnight on 9/14 so don’t wait!  Just email me to let me know you’ve placed your order and I’ll email the file to you!  Easy Peasy!

I hope you enjoyed these projects as much as the ladies last night.  What a fun way to send in treats to your childrens’ or grandchildren’s class, or for your own co-workers.  You can even give out treats to all the kids in the neighborhood in these little boxes on Halloween night!  You can decorate the boxes for any occasion; maybe even a baby shower, just by changing up the color, paper pattern & sentiment.

When ordering, don’t forget to shop the newly stocked Clearance Rack and our weekly Special Offers to for great savings!  And please remember to use HOST CODE 9QWR7K6M.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you were inspired by what you saw here today.  Please leave me a comment; I love to hear from you.  Now go create something fun!  Creative time is therapy 🙂

Happy Stampin’

What’s all the Fun About?

This past weekend, I finally got to play with some of new goodies from the holiday catalog!  It took me long enough, but I sure did have lots of fun!  What’s all the fun about?  Halloween Night – the new product suite from the 2016 Holiday catalog.  If you know me, you know how I love product coordination and all of the stamps and dies and accessories in this product suite play so well together!

First, I just had to play with my Halloween scenes Edgelit dies. This is what I made:

Halloween Scenes

Isn’t this so much fun?  I just love these dies.  And they pair so well with our new Foam Adhesive Strips (#141825).  They are strips of stampin’ dimensionals and I used them to prop up the fence layer to create that look of dimension between the fence and tree layer.

Notice the little bow?  It’s the new Kraft Rope Trim.  I love this because it so thick.  It is actually 3 strands braided together; I separated the 3 strands and used just one!

I had a class tonight and the ladies in my class really loved this set and making this card too!

We made another project too, but you’ll have to come back tomorrow to see that project!

Easter & Passover: A Lifestyle Blog Hop

Living-With-Style-Blog-Hop-for-BlogWelcome to our Blog Hop! Easter and Passover are quickly approaching, and today we have some great ideas, inspiration, tips, resources and how-to for you this Easter or Passover holiday as you move along through the blog hop.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Pam Baker of The Birch Cottage on our Living with Style Blog Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today.

“Work of Art” is one of the most versatile stamp sets I have ever owned!  Due to the creative genius of many people who envisioned various objects from the swishes and swooshes and shapes in this stamp set, I have made flowers, sailboats, snowmen, and now an Easter Egg with this set!

I used the large swish in various ink colors to create the rainbow of color, from Pink Pirouette, to So Saffron, to Wisteria Wonder, to Mint Macaron to Soft Sky.  This layer was adhered to a Wisteria Wonder card base.

TIP:  I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to get my swishes placed just perfectly!  A must when using wood mount or clear mount stamps and precise placement is critical.

Another sheet of Whisper White card stock was embossed with the Spring Flowers TIEF then cut with the Oval Framelits.  Propped up on stampin’ dimensionals, this is placed on top of the rainbow stamped layer.  (NOTE:  The Spring Flowers TIEF is retired, but you can buy it on the CLEARANCE RACK while supplies last!  Sweet deal!)

The finishing touches come from the addition of a little banner stamped with the “Happy Easter” sentiment in Wisteria Wonder from “Circle of Spring” stamp set.    A few flowers stamped from Petite Petals and cropped with the Petite Petals Punch in coordinating colors finish off the card!

close up

TIP:  I stamped and punched a flower in Mint Macaron ink and cut the flower into 2 petals, 2 petals and 1 petal to create the leaves!

I hope you enjoyed my project today.  If you don’t already own the Work of Art stamp set, I encourage you to add this to your collection.  You won’t regret it!

The next stop is  Lisa Milligan at Life on Merlin on Living with Style Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you again next time around!

What did my Stamp Club want to make?

Pot of Gold at the end of the RainbowWhen I asked the ladies in my Stamp Club if there was anything special they wanted to make, they answered that they wanted to make something for St. Patricks’ Day.

Well, I didn’t want to just make a run of the mill, ordinary 3 or 4 leaf clover.  So I thought of a pot of gold (I’d seen a cute punch art pot on Pinterest) but I knew we would need a rainbow.  After all, the pot of gold is found at the end of the rainbow, so I needed to make a rainbow.  Well, since I didn’t own a rainbow stamp, I really had to put my thinking cap on and get my creative juices flowing at the same time!  Not any easy feat if you know me!  Ha Ha.

Since I had my punches out to make the pot of gold, I thought maybe I could just punch art my way to a rainbow.  The extra large oval punch and thin strips of cardstock combine to give me thin arched shapes of paper which I glued together to form the end of the rainbow.  A cloud stamped from the “Sprinkles of Life” stamp set and punched with the coordinating Tree Builder punch gives the rainbow a starting point.

For the rainbow, I used Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, and Elegant Eggplant cardstock.  The pot was made by slicing the top off a 2″ circle punched out of Basic Black Cardstock.  A Word Window punch was used for the rim of the pot, and another was cut in half and used for the legs.  A white Uni-ball gel pen let me create the hi-light on the side of the pot.  The 1/2″ circle punch was used to cut out the coins from gold foil.

This was a fun little project to put together.  The ladies really enjoyed it, and we had a special guest stamper with us that night!IMG_6391

IMG_6393

Even Sadie, 5, enjoyed making her project and did a great job!  She was grinning from ear to ear and couldn’t wait to show her Dad when he came to pick her up!  (We believe in starting ’em young!)

If love to know if you are going to try making this yourself too.  We put ours on water bottle tags, what will you put yours on?  A bookmark, a card, a gift tag?  Please leave me a comment and tell me what you will do.  And save this to your Pinterest board for future reference too.  You can follow me on Pinterest too.

Well, thanks for stopping by My Stampin’ Space today, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you !

Don’t forget to shop my store if you need to order any supplies to make this or anything else.  With every $50 you purchase, you get to choose a free Sale-A-Bration item as well.

After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration to choose from. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Here is my project:

Case the Catty

You may recognize this from the 2016 Occasions catalog, page 16.  It is part of the “Love Blossoms” product suite.  If you know me, or if you’ve been reading my blog, you know how much I love the product coordination with Stampin’ Up! products.   This product suite really delivers when it comes to product coordination!

While the Bloomin’ Hearts thinlits die may be the star of this product suite, the Bloomin’ Love stamp set is the supporting actress!  This card features the floral heart heat embossed in gold on a piece of Designer Series paper from the coordinating Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper stack which was shaped using the Lots of Labels framelits.  This shaped piece is the focal point of the card, but the details make it special!  The small flowers were stamped in Rose Red ink on the Rose Red card stock to frame our shaped paper.  A piece of Satin Ribbon and a string of pearls, and the little wooden heart all hail from the Love Blossoms Embellishment kit.   A few pearl basic jewels randomly placed tie everything into place.

TIP:  While it may look like I used Rose Red for my card base, I actually used Whisper White card stock cut and folded to a standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ size.  Then I cut a piece of Rose Red cardstock to the same size.  This allows me to:     1) -Wrap and adhere the ribbon to the back side of the cardstock layer before I glue it to the card base.  2) Have the inside of my card be white so it is easy to write on.  I like to keep things neat & tidy including the insides of my cards.

Thanks for visiting My Stampin’ Space.  Please leave me a comment at the end of this post and tell me what you think of my project.   To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below.   We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!  – Nancy

Welcome 2016

Happy New Year, Number of Years, Confetti TIEF, 2016, Nancy Gleason, My Stampin Space

I want to wish all of my friends, my customers and my blog readers a very Happy New Year!  I hope that 2016 brings health and happiness to you all.

I used a few new products to make this card, the Confetti TIEF was used to created the party-like embossed background.  I used a large oval framelit die and stamped “2016” in versamark ink and heat embossed the numbers in pewter embossing powder.  The numbers are from a new stamp set “Number of Years” and there are coordinating framelit dies as well.  I love bundles and this is going to be a staple in any paper crafters supply.  A little Melon Mambo bow adds just the right finishing touch!

Be safe!   Just 5 more days until the new catalogs are released!  Now, that’s something to celebrate!
